You don't need to be a parent to relate to this book. I think Erik Lohla is a genius for recording his daily (and nightly) struggles with his newborn son, and his honesty is refreshing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish, and I'm anxiously awaiting his next book.
I heard about this book on Mark and Brian. It is a well written and (sorry Eric and Priva) hilarious account of having a colic baby! I hope all is going well for your family. I look foreword to seeing another book?!!!!
May I make a suggestin? Do not read this while trying to rock your kid to sleep. Your belly laughs will wake her up. I speak from experience.

Hysterical. I bought one for each of my son's for a stocking stuffer for Christmas. They are both new fathers and were reading everyone quotes out loud during the gift exchange. I remember one of my children being just like the baby in the book. Only fair she ended up with a son just like her.
First of all, i have to say, you do not have to have a "colicky" baby to relate to or to enjoy this very funny book....if you are a parent or know a parent you will love this book. It is a very fast read, i read it one sitting, Mr Lohla is a talented writer, and he brought me to laughter (out loud) many times, and to tears a couple times as well....(when julia "lost" ellie, and then erik "lost it" at mcdonalds), so did i. i highly recommend this book to anyone, i bought a few copies for christmas presents this year~to share with all my kids who have kids of their own. we can all relate.
I loved reading this. It tackles a 'difficult' baby very frankly and realistically, and handles the taboo of not adoring your baby every single second with humor and love. Easy to read, had me nodding my head in agreement and remembrance. Written by the dad, and as a mom, I completely appreciated hearing that point of view.
I enjoyed this read a lot! It was funny and gave me comfort that I am not the only person scared of an infant. I have an infant now and even though she sleeps through the night, I go to bed afraid that she won't and that I will need to wake up and feed her and hold her and walk her around and rock her and so forth and that is simply terrifying. Thanks, Erik Lolha!
