I grew up with Wanda. I saw how she and her sisters were abused by their mom. It was very sad and brought back many sad memories when I read the book. Wanda is a beautiful lady inside and out. This is a heartbreaking testimony of the abuse and cruelty that one innocent child endured at the hands of men who were supposed to represent God. I can think of nothing worse then this type of emotional and physical abuse. It is necessary that this be exposed as it still goes on today.
I know this lady personally and she is truly a survivor. I only wished she didn't have to endure what she went through being assaulted by both the church and her mother. Love this brave lady.
Sad but true story.
This is an amazing read. You won't be able to put it down.
This book is well written and well worth reading. The author is a strong and compassionate woman who has broken the cycle of abuse and raised a beautiful family despite her dark childhood and challenges of life. She deserves and has my respect for revisiting the pain to open the eyes of others. Well done.
I just finished reading this book! Wanda was my neighbor for many years and to this day is still a very dear friend. As I read this book I was "shocked" to read the life Wanda and her sisters had. I knew about a lot of it and how horribly mean their mother was. I used to feel very sorry for them when we were young children. This book has really opened my eyes as to the Catholic faith and what was allowed to go on in the orphanage and also in the Cathedral. So very sad. I am happy that Wanda and Barb have been able to open up about their life and are doing so much better now. This book is well worth reading. I had so many different feelings as I was reading this book. Happiness, tears, knots in my tummy etc because of what these ladies went through as young girls. Well written Wanda. I am so proud of you.
